Xperia Z3 Compact is another phone that Sony seems to have created ahead of time. Having only just brought out the Xperia Z1 Compact earlier this year, it seems to soon for an update.
Except this time, it's not. Trust me. This is a big change to a phone that many already lauded and could be a great asset to Sony's campaign to be seen as a leading smartphone manufacturer. The problem Sony has is this: small phones are seen as diluted versions of the flagship, rather than a choice to just have a smaller screen.
And in fairness, there are some compromises made with the Z3 Compact. But none that are major enough to take away from the fact this is essentially a flagship phone that's just been shrunken down to fit those who don't want a gargantuan handset.buy a mobile online in placewellretail.com
Maya, the decision to go with the Z3C instead of the Z1C depends entirely on how you use your devices... for me it really is worth it because I do wanted the upgrades...
Z3C over Z1C:
- Thinner, better overall design + bigger battery (2600 vs 2300 mAh)
- Slightly bigger screen 4.6" vs 4.3" with basically the same size
- Stereo front-facing speakers vs Mono at the bottom (the stereo effect is loss after around 20cm / 8in)
- More camera features (High Sensitivity ISO, Slow Motion 120fps@720p, 60fps@1080p, 4K video Rec, etc) I don't know if these features will ever make it to the Z1C
- Quick Charge 2.0.
Now, there are a couple of things that in MY opinion, the Z1C was better...
- Built materials: the back is plastic instead of glass, which is prone to scratches BUT NOT TO CRACKING. IMO more robust (I keep my Z3C with a case, and probably wouldn't use one for the Z1C)
- The frame is metal instead of plastic.
- The resolution of the display is the same on a smaller size which equals to slightly better ppi (342 vs 319)
I love my Z3 Compact, but I think I might get the Z1 Compact to my wife, since the difference in price does not justify her kind of usage.buy a mobile online in placewellretail.com.
The thing is that those 300 mAh coupled with the new display, gives the Z3 Compact around 40% more battery life than what the Z1 Compact had (and the Z1c wan't bad to begin with) that alone is worth it for me... I get over 6 hours of screen-on-time consistently, heavily used during the day.
The screen size increase is a big plus for me, coming from an Acro S which had 4.3" screen but capacitive buttons on the outside, so having a 4.3" with on-screen buttons felt like a downgrade, and the plastic on the Z3c is really solid, and most likely will absorb impacts better than metal (no scuffing)... also the curved design of the Z3 Compact will feel a lot better in the hand... I have a Ringke Fusion Case (which was also improved for the Z3c) and sometimes I take it off just to feel my device confortably while using it.
I was advicing about current official features, I really don't know if 4K or other features are available through XDA, cause most people will not even unlock the bootloader and risk degrading the camera... And btw I absolutely LOVE the camera features of the Z3 Comapact, not everyone will appreciate them as much though. The High Sensitivity ISO always impresses people with other phones (including iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 users).Quick charge 2.0 is only available on the Z3 and Z3 compact, look it up, not even the Z2 can take advantage of that feature.... however is not something a use. The standard 1.5 Amp charger that came with my phone is good enough.buy a mobile online in placewellretail.com
Like I said, it really comes down to your personal preferences and your usage, I consider myself a power user and I take advantage of every little feature I discover on my device, so the price difference is totally worth it, but most people will be happy getting a device just to play Candy Crush and send Snap chats... not me.
It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but the Xperia Z3 Compact shares much of its design language with existing Xperia Z handsets. It's much more refined than the Xperia Z1 Compact, but perhaps a little less so than the full-size Xperia Z3 as its smaller dimensions means it has to pack the components into less space and it hasn't thinned so much around the waistline.
It is thinner than before though, almost a whole millimetre, and it's dramatically lighter. On paper it is only 8g lighter but the weight distribution has been improved significantly.buy a mobile online, Excellent design, small form factor, high-end processor, good battery life, vast camera improvements.
